Scott Sumner, M.B.A.
Scott Sumner assumed the role of Chief Financial Officer for the Children's Trust of Alachua County in August 2024. The move made Sumner an official part of the team, which he joined as interim finance director in May 2024.
Sumner began his career in academic medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine during the early 1990s. He has held a wide variety of positions in physician practice management and medical school leadership, including department administrator, vice president of professional revenue, and associate dean for administration and finance. Scott has significant financial and operational experience within academic health centers, working side-by-side with physicians, senior leaders and staff. He has sophisticated management skills to develop, to evolve or re-engineer, to plan and execute well, and to optimize performance.
Sumner earned his M.B.A. at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business Administration in 2002. He is a Sherpa Certified Executive Coach working with physicians and senior administrators to improve their impact on business. He served seven years as a member of finance faculty in Drexel University's Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program for women. He is also a certified facilitator in Sherpa Communication and Team Effectiveness/ Sherpa Team Leader Assimilation/ ZengerMiller Frontline Leadership - The Basic Principles and ODi Quality Action Teams/ Continuous Quality Improvement.
