Children’s Trust Proposes New Data Management Policy
For Immediate Release: December 13, 2021
Gainesville, FL – The Children’s Trust of Alachua County is proposing a new Data Management Policy for consideration at today’s Board Meeting.
Executive Director Colin Murphy has asked the Board to consider Resolution 2021-05 ADOPTION OF CHAPTER 8 - DATA MANAGEMENT AND REPORTING. This resolution will memorialize in policy our current practices around collection of data.
“I believe this policy, if adopted by the Board, will address any community concerns about how we collect data, how we use it, and how we report it,” explained Murphy.
The community raised legitimate concerns about data security, which can be frightening for members of marginalized communities who have experienced harm through the misuse of data. We are trying to alleviate these concerns by explaining what we currently do and implement policies that will ensure best practices
Murphy will also address concerns over data security at today’s Board meeting.
Murphy explained that data collection is a key component of ensuring that the children that need the most help get it now and in the years to come.
Attached is the proposed resolution for the Board of the Children’s Trust to consider. An explanation of Data Security in CTAC Google Drive is also attached.
