Listening Project
The Children’s Trust of Alachua County sought authentic inclusion of community residents and families in its Listening Project. These voices are essential to drive how we best invest our funds, define our role, and measure our success. Numerous opportunities were offered for residents and families to be heard through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and community meetings.
“Hearing the feedback of our families was important. To affect positive changes, we needed to hear directly from our parents, youth, and service providers on areas of critical need,” said Marsha Kiner, Executive Director of the Children's Trust of Alachua County.
The Trust is a taxpayer-funded initiative which yields an operating budget of approximately $9 million per year.
“We recognize that the needs are great and with our current budget, we couldn’t possibly address all areas of concern for children and youth in Alachua County. We hope to invest these funds in programs where there is high need, identified gaps, measurable impact, and a high return on investment,” Kiner said.
Through our Listening Project, we heard from hundreds of parents, youth, service providers, and partners. Please help us recognize their voices by continuing to support our community’s goals to ensure that all our children and youth are thriving.
